Creating a new rails project

Now its time to create a new rails project and get started on using the rails framework.

For this tutorial. I recommend that you make use of the www directory if you’re already using wamp. So that there will only be one place where you can access all the files associated with working with developing web applications.

First, open up the command line and navigate to that www directory:

cdwampwww

To create a new rails project and specify that the project will be using mysql as the database. Type:

rails new RailsProject -d mysql

Doesn’t matter what the name of the project is. You can name it anything you want.

If that command is successful, you will see bunch of files being created.

You can now check on the www directory to see if the files are indeed created:
